Waterco partners with Royal Life Saving NSW and COX Architecture

Delivering a new water treatment model to future-proof public swimming pools

Waterco Limited (ASX: WAT) is proud to join Royal Life Saving NSW and COX Architecture on the Future of Swimming Pools initiative, addressing one of Australia’s most pressing community infrastructure challenges. With nearly forty per cent of public aquatic facilities expected to reach end of life by 2030, the issue extends beyond infrastructure, representing a significant social, economic, and public health concern.

“To meet this challenge, we are supporting COX’s design of a modular swimming pool system with modular water treatment solutions that are energy and water efficient, climate resilient, and designed to lower both capital and operational costs,” explains Waterco Commercial Business Unit Manager Andy Gale. “Our objective is to facilitate fast and sustainable pool deployment for local communities.”

As a publicly listed Australian manufacturer with nearly 45 years of water treatment expertise, Waterco brings proven industry experience and proprietary filtration technologies to the project.

“Leveraging nearly 45 years in aquatics and an 11-year partnership with Royal Life Saving NSW, our team brings unmatched expertise in delivering efficient and innovative water treatment solutions,” he explains.

Future-proofing essential community assets

With funding constraints limiting many councils, Gale says a cost-effective approach that can be replicated is crucial for the future of public pool infrastructure.

“The aim is to keep investment sustainable for local governments by providing modular water treatment solutions that complement COX’s designs for regional and rural facilities,” adds Gale.

More than replacing ageing assets, the initiative will future-proof community pools, ensuring they continue to support public wellbeing and provide safe, accessible spaces for all.

“By improving access and affordability, Waterco is setting new global benchmarks in innovative and cost-effective aquatic facility design,” he says.

The collaboration between Waterco, Royal Life Saving NSW, and COX Architecture now moves into its next phase with consultation and feedback from partners. To learn how the modular approach could support your community or facility, please contact Royal Life Saving NSW for project information.
